Motherhood is both challenging and rewarding, so it’s nice to hear about and support one another! We joined Australian mum in Southern Victoria, Olivia White who runs a motherhood and lifestyle blog called ‘House of White’ to talk about parenting and the new ‘Young Free Spirit’ range.

You’re an advocate and ambassador of PANDA & COPE. Org and have received runner up in the 2017 Ausmumprenuer awards, were these achievements close to your heart?

“Yeah definitely. I’m a huge advocate for perinatal mental health, body positivity, gender equality. As a mother and role model for my children, I felt passionate about showing compassion to those who have their own, unique experiences and skills to share. My family is extremely important to me and really what motivated me.”

You take pictures with you kids on your ‘Houseofwhite’ Instagram, how do you describe your children’s style?

“Well they are very active and energetic and run around a lot. Sometimes they wear leggings and tops and sometimes dresses. It all depends on how they feel the morning of. Cute but comfortable I guess.”

What do you and your kids do for fun when outdoors?

“We go on walks at parks or take them to playgrounds. It’s great they get to appreciate nature and let their imagination run free. It’s simple, the best kind of childhood. I get to spend quality time with them before they get too old.”

What does motherhood mean to you?

“Motherhood means being a role model to my children to look up to as they grow up. Showing them love and acceptance and how to treat others with understanding.”

How important to you is it that the clothing you purchase is sustainable?

“Very important. We all need to be conscious of how we affect the planet and respect it. When I see brands being sustainable, I feel they care also care about the people living on it. I want my children to have the same great experiences I had in nature growing up.”

What are your go-to items from the range “Young Free Spirit” that we’ve developed?

“I would buy the dress with the frilled sleeves, basic t-shirt, leggings and the trackies. I could see my girls wearing those. They look comfortable, non-fuss. The dress would be great for our outings; fun but easy for me to get them into. They also look hard wearing and something that they children could really good wear out of. Quite affordable too”.

Meet our girls

Every mum loves putting their kids outfits together, however there is many challenges that a mum will face with their little lady wearing the garments picked for her, such as comfort, style and of course their big personality.

Thankfully we’re here to make it fun, affordable and easy for you. Below are some ideas of cute outfits for girls with different personalities. We have used garments from Targets new collection “Young free spirit” that can still be paired with other clothing you may have at home too.

Every kind of girl

Building a wardrobe for your girl can be hard, but starting from the bottom is the key for the first step.

Basics! Can make everything so much easier. It is great for layering and can save you a headache in the morning. (Especially when you have two girls who one wishes she got a puppy instead of a sister).

The Free spirit Target collection utilizes colour for autumn/ winter which can be different from your boring dark colours that are usually seen in these seasons. The long sleeves and t-shirts are both made out of plain jersey which is comfortable, soft and easy to wash and both come in 4 different colours for long and short sleeve.

Fit for a princess

Dresses! So many too pick from. If your girl is the type to live in her Elsa dress rather than regular clothes. I suggest picking a dress with embellishment that can complement any special occasion.

Targets free spirit collection brings attention to detail by using embroidery and frills. They have also brought out a skirt pinafore which can look great layered with a basic or knitwear.

Cool kids

Embrace the fact that your girl might rather pants over a dress! If your daughter is more on the tomb boy side. I suggest leggings or even jeans.

The outfit can still look cute by pairing it with sneakers giving that active look feel.

Lets not forget the classic overalls.

Your daughter does need some good bottoms to run and climb over the jungle gym or even when your daughter wants to be comfortable by watching the exact same cartoon on repeat for the next 4 years.

The little Wonderer

If you’re girl likes to stand out from the crowd and you want an easy description of what she’s wearing when she starts to play hide and seek in the clothes rack or think it’s funny to run away from mummy then these pieces will certainly be in handy.

The pom pom jumper and frilly sleeve knit will be a must need especially when the weather drops!
